Overview
The Watchers were called to protect the people of Erathe and maintain the delicate balance between the freedom of mankind and its ultimate destiny. They stood as guardians against the return of evil and preserved knowledge across the ages.
Origins
According to prophecy, certain men and women were granted extraordinary gifts by the Creator. These individuals separated themselves from ordinary society and established the traditions that became the Order of the Watchers.
The Sword Bearer
The Watchers believed that in mankind's darkest hour a Sword Bearer would arise to lead them against the great evil threatening Erathe. This prophecy shaped their purpose for generations.
The Schism
As the struggle against Broeden intensified, divisions emerged within the Watchers. Traditional Watchers and the Spellmakers increasingly disagreed on how evil should be confronted and how power should be used.
Legacy
The history of Erathe cannot be understood without the Watchers. Their influence can be found in the Watch, the Spellmakers, Moonledge Peak, and many of the most important events of the First Age.
