Overview
The Upland Plains are the northern grasslands of the First Quarter — open, wind-cut country that lies between the Candrian Mountains and the Faceless Mountains. Maps place them on the road toward Calarph, with the Wall's northern run climbing toward Moonledge Peak beyond.
Province of the Seven
When the seven warriors became Stewards, each was given a province of the First Quarter to oversee, from the Upland Plains in the north to Southwood and Red Field in the south. The Plains remain named among those early western holdings.
Gate to the Faceless
Travelers describe a relentless wind off the Faceless peaks and a horizon that hides any easy passage north. Public accounts of the Great Journey mark the Upland Plains as the last open country before the snow of Galbard's Pass and the kingdom of Calarph beyond.
Later Years
The Plains stay on the maps as the high road between Candra and the north. Further records of later crossings remain sealed.
