Overview
Rakmuut are war dogs transformed through possession by dark spiritual entities. Once the Possessor establishes control, the host animal undergoes extreme mutation, becoming larger, more aggressive, and vastly more dangerous than the original creature. Rakmuut serve as scouts, guardians, trackers, pursuit predators, and battlefield shock troops for the armies of the Boundland.
Appearance
Though traces of their original canine ancestry remain visible, Rakmuut quickly develop exaggerated musculature, elongated jaws, enlarged fangs, reinforced skeletal structures, thickened hides, and abnormal growth patterns. Mature specimens often bear visible signs of corruption, including unnatural eyes, enlarged claws, and severe distortion of their original anatomy.
Creation
Rakmuut are created when a Possessor spirit inhabits a war dog. The spirit gradually dominates the host body, accelerating growth and driving increasingly violent physical changes. What emerges is neither fully beast nor spirit, but a hybrid war-creature serving the interests of Amphileph and the Boundland.
Behavior
Rakmuut operate individually or in packs and display relentless pursuit instincts. They are highly territorial, extraordinarily aggressive, and capable of tracking prey over long distances. Fear responses normally present in war dogs are diminished or absent, making Rakmuut especially dangerous in combat.
Military Role
Boundland commanders employ Rakmuut as battlefield shock troops, scouts, trackers, camp guardians, and pursuit predators. They frequently lead assaults against fleeing enemies and are often used to locate survivors after major engagements.
Relationship with Possessors
Every Rakmuut begins as the result of Possessor activity. Scholars therefore debate whether Rakmuut should be classified as independent creatures or extensions of Possessor influence. Without the Possessor, no Rakmuut transformation occurs.
