Durageim was the legendary fortress of the sorcerer Broeden. For centuries it stood as a symbol of fear, domination, and dark power. Hidden in the northern reaches beyond the settled lands, its halls were said to contain horrors beyond the understanding of ordinary men.
Origins
The fortress became the seat of Broeden's authority during the age when he ruled vast portions of the old world. Surrounded by loyal servants, Camonra warriors, and unnatural creations, Durageim served as both palace and military stronghold.
The Fortress
Durageim featured massive walls, fortified gates, elevated battlements, and extensive underground chambers. The area surrounding the fortress was feared for its corruption and the dark experiments associated with Broeden's servants and possessors.
The Rion Guard Assault
One of the most famous attempts against Broeden occurred when Captain Graeson led elite members of the Rion Guard across the frozen tundra of Calarph and into the northern lands. Their daring infiltration nearly reached the heart of the fortress but ended in tragedy.
The Watchers' War
During the Watchers' War, Durageim became the focal point of the final campaign against Broeden. Watchers, Spellmakers, the Rion Guard, and allied forces assembled to confront the ancient sorcerer and bring an end to his reign.
Fall of Durageim
Following the invasion led by Evliit, the Sword Bearer, Broeden was ultimately defeated. The fortress suffered catastrophic destruction, bringing an end to an era of terror that had endured for generations.
Legacy
Though the fortress fell, the memory of Durageim remains a warning to future generations about the dangers of tyranny, corruption, and the pursuit of power without restraint.
