Western Forest Realm • Land of Hidden Sanctuaries

A vast coastal woodland where ancient forests, quiet rivers, and hidden lives endure far from the wars of the north.

Southwood

Overview

Southwood is one of the great forest regions of Erathe. Known for towering trees, secluded valleys, and isolated homesteads, it lies far from the centers of political power and was long considered a refuge from the conflicts that shaped the northern lands.

Geography

Dense woodlands dominate the region, broken by rivers, hidden meadows, and small coastal clearings. The forests stretch for great distances and are difficult for large armies to navigate, making Southwood a natural sanctuary for travelers, outcasts, and those seeking solitude.

The Seaside Forest

Near the western shores of Blue Water, Southwood contains beautiful coastal forests and white-sand beaches. The region offers striking scenery where sea cliffs, woodland paths, and ocean winds meet in one of the most picturesque locations in Erathe.

Role in the Watchers' War

Following the fall of Broeden, Southwood became the refuge of Rendaya and Ebert. Hidden deep within the forest, they created a peaceful life far from the struggles of Durageim, Rion, and the northern campaigns.

The Forest Cottage

Among Southwood's hidden places stood a secluded cottage and garden that became a symbol of hope, healing, and redemption. The site later gained historical significance through its connection to Ebert, Rendaya, and the final struggles against the darkness inherited from Broeden.

Legacy

Southwood symbolizes renewal after tragedy. While many regions of Erathe are remembered for battles and conquest, Southwood is remembered for restoration, love, sacrifice, and the possibility of peace beyond war.
