Overview
Illian is named in the public record as a man of Rion among the western refugees. When Galbard came alone through the Faceless Mountains, Illian stepped forward from the circle of his band, named himself also of Rion, and asked for news of their city.
Moonledge Refuge
Chronicles place Illian among those sent from Rion to find hiding within the mountains. Around four thousand Rionese took refuge in the caves beneath the highest peak — Moonledge Peak. Illian wears the look of that hard refuge: fur collar, leather and chain, long coat, graying hair and beard peppered with snow.
Galbard's Welcome
Public accounts name Illian as the voice that quieted the crowd, took Galbard's hand, and led him through the narrow mountain opening into the carved dwellings beyond. He showed Galbard food, drink, and rest under Caratacus's council. Further records of Galbard's stay among them remain sealed.
