Areates gathered the Rion Guard and charged them to keep the purpose for which generations had trained. He spoke for the Elders from the Hill of Kings, and he measured a guardsman's work by faith kept, not by the faith of the crowd.
Personality
Though advanced in age and physically frail, Areates possessed immense conviction. He understood that many viewed the prophecies as distant legends, yet he continued to prepare the Guard.
